General participation in community classes requires mindfulness:
If at any time during the class, you feel discomfort or strain, gently come out of the posture. You may rest at any time during the class. It is important in yoga that you listen to your body, and respect its limits on any given day.
Yoga includes physical movements, relaxation, stress re-education and relief from muscular tension. Similar to any physical activity there is a risk of injury which could even be serious or disabling. This risk is always present and can not be eliminated entirely. Please follow the instructions of your trained and experienced teacher.
- If you experience any pain or discomfort, listen to your body, discontinue the activity, and ask for support from the instructor. Continue to breathe smoothly.
- Understand that Yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Yoga is not recommended and is not safe under certain medical conditions. Your licensed physician should verify your good health and physical condition to participate in such a fitness program, if required.
- In addition, make the instructor aware of any medical conditions or physical limitations before class.
- If you are pregnant, become pregnant or are post-natal or post-surgical, verify that you have your physician’s approval to participate.
- You alone are responsible to decide whether to practice yoga and participation is at your own risk.
